Once the color is that faded it is too far gone to salvage. Plan on repainting it. If you like the orange, good substitutes are Kubota type 2, PPG Orbit Orange Deltron or Delthane, GM Grabber Orange, Mopar "General Lee" orange (I forgot the actual color name, but the shop will know), or 1977 Ford F-series pickup orange. Use a high quality paint, bug bombs look okay from a distance, but look real rough up close.
Don't use lacquer, it is really soft (chips easy) and gasoline eats it.
